ACT


LSU understands the vital role that college entrance exams play in college admissions. Acceptance into a student’s school of choice can hinge on his or her performance on standardized tests. Properly prepared students are more likely to perform to their highest potential, and LSU Continuing Education is here to help students by offering serious preparation options.

The Louisiana State University ACT test preparation program covers skills needed for success on the ACT. Class sessions use real test questions to show just how these skills are tested and our instructors are committed to providing individualized attention to the needs of each student. The program consists of 24 hours of classroom instruction from an experienced instructor, together with additional practice problems and sample tests. All classes take place on the LSU campus.

Quantitative Topics
  • Practice techniques for selecting numbers for problems containing variables
  • Learn efficient approaches to complicated geometry problems that involve more than one figure
  • Discover tactics for translating difficult word problems into equations
English
  • Identify correct idiomatic speech in sentence correction problems
  • Understand the basic concepts of rhetorical construction
  • Learn which grammar errors are most frequently tested
Reading Topics
  • Understand which part of the passage to read for reading comprehension questions
  • Recognize the difference between global and local test items
  • Identify passages written from the journalistic and engaged perspectives
Science Reasoning
  • Identify parameters for test items involving graphs and charts
  • Interpolate or extrapolate answers from data given in tables
  • Recognize the point of an experiment in research summary items

Description: Prepare for the February ACT Test Date! LSU Test Prep offers a quality ACT Prep Course that is designed by professional test writers and led by expert instructors. 24 hours of in-classroom instruction includes practice problems, sample tests and skill review excercises.  
Information: All class sections are held on the LSU Campus, with an emphasis on ACT test components: Test Taking Strategies, Question Formats, Quantitative Subjects (ex. Equations, fractions, ratios, geometry), and Verbal Subjects (analogies, sentence completion and critical reading).
