About Us

Educating students at a distance has been part of LSU’s mission since 1924, when University Extension was formed. Correspondence Study, one of two original departments, eventually evolved into LSU Independent & Distance Learning (IDL). Now, Online Distance Learning (ODL) has been launched to offer fully online courses to complement the offerings available through IDL and provide another alternative to students who need a flexible opportunity to earn college credit.

Each of our ODL courses is developed for the online learning environment by a faculty member and members of our course development team. Courses are taught by qualified faculty who are certified in their subject areas.
